San Francisco E.max Lithium Disilicate Crown

San Francisco practices run a demanding mix: boutique esthetic offices in Pacific Heights, multi-specialty groups in the Financial District, and DSO-affiliated clinics across the Sunset and Mission corridors. All of them share one pressure point, namely chair time. E.max lithium disilicate fits that pressure perfectly when the lab delivers a crown that seats first-time, requires minimal adjustment, and holds its characterization through the cement cleanup. That is what we build toward on every case.

  • Pre-paid two-way shipping, nationwide
  • A named technician on every case
  • Margins verified against your prescription
  • Tempe + Tucson locations

Built to your prescription.

San Francisco practices run a demanding mix: boutique esthetic offices in Pacific Heights, multi-specialty groups in the Financial District, and DSO-affiliated clinics across the Sunset and Mission corridors. All of them share one pressure point, namely chair time. THE DETAIL

How we build it.

Most national-volume labs processing e.max work through a queue model: the case enters, a generalist designs it, a milling operator runs it, and a finisher glazes it. No single person owns the outcome. At Dani Dental, each case is assigned to a named ceramist who carries it from design review through characterization. If something looks off at glaze, that technician flags it before it ships, not after you call about a remake. Large network labs competing in the Bay Area market lean on overnight courier relationships and volume pricing as their pitch. That model works until communication breaks down, which it does on complex cases. When a San Francisco practice has a patient in the chair tomorrow and a shade question today, the answer cannot come from a ticketing system. Our technicians respond within 2 business hours during the standard workday, and the person responding is the person who built your crown. On the esthetic side, agency-tier lab networks typically route anterior e.max cases through a centralized characterization team that may never see your patient's reference photos. We treat every anterior case as a named-patient file. Shade mapping, incisal halo requests, surface texture notes, all of it travels with the case from intake to shipping. San Francisco clinicians working on complex esthetic rehabilitation cases have sent us the same cases repeatedly for exactly that reason.

GETTING CASES TO US

Logistics, to the bench.

Our e.max workflow starts at the design file. Cases arriving as intraoral scans from iTero, 3Shape Trios, or Medit go directly into CAD design without a model-pour step. For practices still sending PVS impressions, we scan and design in-house. Every crown is milled from IPS e.max CAD blocks and fired through a calibrated crystallization cycle, not estimated. Final characterization and glaze are applied by a named technician, and that technician's direct contact goes on the shipping slip. For anterior cases in particular, the Bay Area esthetic bar is high. We offer layered e.max options for the maxillary anterior zone where monolithic translucency alone will not satisfy the patient's expectation. Shade communication runs through digital shade mapping when your office sends reference photography, or we work from a VITA classical prescription when that is your workflow. Either path gets the same QC checkpoint before the case ships.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What practices ask

Do you accept intraoral scans from San Francisco practices, or is a physical impression required?
We accept digital files from all major intraoral scanners, including iTero, 3Shape Trios, Medit, and Carestream. Upload through our secure case portal and the file routes directly to your assigned technician. Physical impressions are also accepted; we scan them in-house at no additional charge. Most Bay Area accounts that have switched to digital submission report cutting their average turnaround by one full business day simply by eliminating shipping lag.
What is your standard turnaround for e.max crowns shipped to the Bay Area?
Standard turnaround is 5 business days from the day we confirm receipt of a complete case. Rush turnaround at 3 business days is available for an additional fee and must be requested at submission, not after. Cases received by noon Pacific on a given business day count as received that day. We ship via FedEx Priority Overnight to Bay Area zip codes, so a case confirmed Monday morning at noon typically arrives at your practice Friday morning.
Can I request a layered e.max build for anterior esthetic cases?
Yes. Monolithic e.max with glaze and stain characterization handles most posterior and premolar cases well. For maxillary anteriors where incisal translucency and lobe definition matter, we offer a feldspathic porcelain layered build over an e.max pressable coping. This adds approximately 2 business days to standard turnaround. Include reference photography and any specific characterization notes at submission, and your technician will contact you to confirm the shade plan before milling begins.
How do you handle shade communication for complex esthetic cases?
We work from two paths depending on your office workflow. If you send reference photography with a VITA shade tab in frame, we run digital shade mapping and match to the reference image. If you prefer a classical VITA prescription with modifier notes, we work from that. Either way, your named technician reviews the shade call before the crown enters the mill queue and will reach out within 2 business hours if anything in the prescription looks ambiguous. We do not assume; we confirm.
What is your remake policy if a crown does not seat correctly?
If a crown does not seat and the cause is traceable to a lab error in design, margin adaptation, or occlusal calibration, we remake it at no charge and expedite the replacement at standard rush turnaround. We ask that you return the original crown and send a photograph of the seating issue. Cases where the impression or scan file had a capture error are handled differently; in those situations we work with you on a cost-share arrangement rather than absorbing the full remake cost.
Do you offer IPS e.max press as well as CAD-milled options?
Yes. CAD-milled e.max is our default workflow for the speed and consistency it delivers on full-contour cases. IPS e.max Press is available when your case design calls for a pressable coping, specifically for layered anteriors or cases where press-to-metal adaptation is clinically indicated. Specify your preference at case submission. If you are unsure which path suits a particular case, your technician can walk through the tradeoffs with you before work begins.
