Every retainer case at Dani Dental enters the same intake checkpoint regardless of impression format. Physical PVS impressions are poured in Type IV stone within 2 hours of arrival. Digital STL files from iTero, 3Shape Trios, and Medit scanners are validated against a minimum mesh-quality threshold before any model is printed. That front-end check is the single biggest driver of the sub-2.5 percent remake rate; problems caught at intake cost nothing, problems caught post-delivery cost a chair appointment. Hawley retainers are fabricated on hand-poured stone models using Adams clasps formed on a Pindex pin system, then wire-bent and processed in heat-cured acrylic. The clasp wire gauge and acrylic shade are confirmed on the prescription form before fabrication starts. No substitutions happen without a direct call to the ordering dentist. What happens if a retainer does not fit at delivery?
Call the technician listed on the shipping card. Fit issues are assessed case by case: if the problem originates from a model or scan discrepancy on Dani Dental's side, the remake ships at no charge within 3 business days. If the impression or scan provided was the source of the discrepancy, the team will walk through options including a new impression submission or a modified design before a second fabrication run begins.
Can Dani Dental duplicate an existing retainer without a new impression?
Yes, if the existing appliance is sent to the lab in intact condition and the original model is on file or a new scan is provided. Duplication from the appliance alone is possible for Essex-style retainers in most cases; Hawley duplications require either the original model or a new impression so the wire fit can be verified on a stable reference. Call before shipping to confirm the fastest path for your specific case.
Do you fabricate retainers for orthodontic offices with high monthly volume?
