- Full digital workflow
Every retainer case at Dani Dental opens with a digital or physical model review by the assigned technician before fabrication begins. For intraoral scan submissions, we accept STL files from any major scanner (iTero, 3Shape Trios, Medit) and run them through our in-house CAD workflow before milling or thermoforming. That step catches occlusal discrepancies before they become a remake. For physical impressions, we pour and trim to our own standards before proceeding. The pre-fab review is not optional and adds zero turnaround time. Hawley retainers at Dani Dental are built on heat-cured acrylic with Dentsply Sirona-sourced wire components. Clasp adaptation and acrylic contouring are done by hand by the assigned technician, not outsourced to an acrylic department. Essix-style clear retainers are thermoformed on our in-house Biostar unit using 1.0mm or 1.5mm Erkodur material, with trim lines set to the dentist's preference (scalloped or straight). We note the preference in the case file so every subsequent order matches without re-instruction. Fixed lingual retainers use 0.0215-inch dead-soft braided wire, contoured to each tooth individually. We do not use pre-formed generic archwires. The contoured wire is bonded to a carrier for chair-side placement, and we include a fit-check protocol card with every case so the placing dentist can confirm passive seating before bonding. That card is case-specific, not a generic insert. For practices sending 10 or more retainer cases per month, we set up a dedicated case tracking sheet that gives the front desk visibility into ship dates without calling the lab. The sheet updates when the case leaves the building. Communication is the second-most-cited reason dentists switch labs; the tracking sheet is a direct answer to that. The assigned technician's direct line is also listed on every packing slip, not a general lab number.
