Every no-prep veneer case at Dani Dental opens with a Digital Smile Blueprint session. The ordering dentist submits intraoral scans, a full-face photo set, and a brief shade conversation with the assigned technician by phone or secure message. The technician uses that input to build a digital wax-up in exocad, targeting the final ceramic thickness before a single ingot is pressed. That wax-up comes back to the dentist as a printable trial smile the patient can wear chairside. Nothing moves to production until the dentist and patient have signed off on proportions, midline, and gingival contour. Fabrication follows Dani Dental's Thin-Shell Pressing Protocol. Cases calling for lithium disilicate (IPS e.max Press is the default material) are pressed at full-ingot density, then hand-cut back to final thickness by the same technician who built the wax-up. Cases requiring translucency that exceeds what pressed glass-ceramic can deliver are routed to feldspathic layering on a refractory die. Both paths are benchmarked against the same 0.3 mm average-thickness target. The technician's direct phone number ships with every case; if fit is off at try-in, the call goes to the person who built it, not a call center. Shade development for no-prep veneers is its own discipline. Because no enamel is removed, the underlying dentition reads through the ceramic. What materials do you use for no-prep veneers?
The default material is IPS e.max Press (lithium disilicate) pressed to 0.3 mm average thickness. For cases requiring higher translucency or very thin incisal edges, Dani Dental technicians build feldspathic porcelain on a refractory die. Material selection is made case-by-case based on underlying tooth shade, the patient's bite, and the dentist's esthetic goals, and the assigned technician walks through that choice with you before fabrication begins.
How thin can you realistically go without the veneer fracturing?
IPS e.max Press remains clinically reliable at 0.3 mm in the body and as thin as 0.2 mm at the incisal edge in low-occlusal-load zones. Below those benchmarks fracture risk increases meaningfully. Dani Dental's technicians flag any case where the prescription asks for thickness that falls outside validated safety margins, and they will recommend a material change or a minimal-prep adjustment rather than build a veneer that will fail at 18 months.
Do I need to send a physical impression or will an intraoral scan work?
An intraoral scan is the preferred submission. Dani Dental's exocad-based workflow imports STL and DCM files from all major scanners, including iTero, 3Shape TRIOS, Medit i700, and Planmeca Emerald. Physical PVS impressions are accepted and poured in-house at no additional charge, but scan-based cases reach the wax-up stage roughly two days faster because there is no pour-and-trim step.
What is the turnaround from approved wax-up to final delivery?
Once the dentist approves the digital wax-up, pressed e.max cases ship in 10 business days on average based on 2024 production data. Feldspathic layering cases require 12 to 14 business days due to the iterative firing schedule. Rush fabrication is available for both material paths at a stated surcharge; contact your assigned technician for availability before promising a patient appointment.
How do you handle shade matching when no tooth structure is removed?
The underlying dentition reads through a no-prep veneer, so shade mapping is zone-specific rather than a single tab selection. Dani Dental requests a polarized-light photograph of the unprepared teeth alongside the standard shade tab reference. The assigned technician maps chroma distribution across the cervical, body, and incisal thirds, then places internal stains and modifiers accordingly before final glaze. That approach avoids the flat, opaque appearance that results from building a single uniform shade block over a complex underlying tooth.
Can no-prep veneers work on teeth with existing composite bonding?
Yes, with a caveat. Composite surfaces require special preparation before bonding to ceramic, and older or stained composite can telegraph discoloration through a thin veneer. Dani Dental's technicians review photographs of any tooth with existing composite before confirming the veneer specification. In some cases a light surface clean or selective removal of the existing composite is recommended at the prep appointment. The technician flags this on the case notes so the dentist can plan chair time accordingly.
What information do I need to submit with my first no-prep veneer case?
Send a full-arch intraoral scan or PVS impression, a set of retracted facial photos (front and lateral with lips relaxed and in full smile), a full-face photo showing the smile in context, your shade selection with a reference tab photograph, and any specific proportionality notes for the wax-up. A brief phone call with your assigned technician before submission cuts back-and-forth significantly. How do you handle remakes if the veneers do not seat correctly at try-in?
