Ceramic Inlay & Onlay

Every ceramic inlay and onlay case at Dani Dental opens with a digital or analog intake review. Intraoral scans arrive through our portal and are assigned to a named technician within two hours of receipt. Physical impressions are poured and scanned in-house using a laboratory-grade desktop scanner, so the case enters the same CAD pipeline regardless of how it was submitted. No case reaches design without a complete seating surface map and confirmed preparation geometry. Design runs through our in-house CAD workflow in exocad DentalCAD. The technician builds full contour before any material decision is finalized. Proximal contacts, cusp coverage, isthmus width, and occlusal thickness are verified against the opposing model at this stage. If a preparation falls outside ideal parameters, the assigned technician contacts the submitting doctor directly, typically within the same business day, before cutting or pressing begins. That call saves remakes. Material selection is not automatic. IPS e.max press is the default for inlays and onlays requiring high translucency and demanding anterior or premolar esthetics. Milled IPS e.max CAD (LT, HT, or MO blocks) is used when monolithic strength-to-thickness ratios favor a milled workflow, particularly on second molars with heavy occlusal contact. Dani Dental does not outsource pressing or milling. Both ovens and both milling units are on-site in our Tempe production floor, which means quality checks happen at each stage without a courier gap between fabrication steps. Shade is matched using a calibrated Vita Classical and 3D-Master reference set under a Dentsply Sirona shade-matching light. For complex shade requests or quadrant cases where adjacent natural teeth are visible, the submitting doctor receives a pre-production shade confirmation request with a photography guide. Cases that include a shade photograph at submission skip this step and move directly to fabrication. The technician who designed the case also performs the final pre-shipment inspection, checking margins under 10x magnification before boxing. Every shipped case includes the direct contact number of the technician who built it. If the cementation appointment surfaces a fit question, the doctor calls the technician, not a call center. That accountability loop is the clearest operational difference between a boutique lab and a high-volume anonymous pipeline, and it is why Dani Dental's ceramic indirect remake rate sits below 2.5 percent.
