If yes, and the surrounding tissue is healthy, one-stage saves the patient a surgery and shortens the timeline by 8 to 12 weeks. If no, burying the implant protects it from the forces that cause early failure.</p><p>Choose one-stage placement when the patient has adequate native bone volume, you achieved 35 Ncm or better primary stability, and you are not grafting at the same appointment. Pick two-stage placement when the case involves simultaneous bone augmentation, sinus elevation, an immunocompromised host, a heavy smoker, or an esthetic zone case with thin biotype where you want full control over emergence profile at uncovery.</p><p>For full-arch and All-on-X cases, the conversation shifts again: immediate-load protocols use one-stage logic with cross-arch stabilization carrying the micromovement risk. Talk through the surgical plan with the lab before placement, not after, especially when the prosthetic plan drives the surgical guide design.</p>
